Hands-on Demonstration
Abstract
The transmission of tactile information is critical for immersive telepresence, yet current remote touch technologies are often limited to low-resolution force or vibrotactile feedback. This constraint hinders applications requiring fine motor control or diagnostic capabilities, such as remote medical palpation. In this demonstration, we present a real-time, high-fidelity remote touch system capable of rendering complex tactile features. The system couples a wearable high-resolution sensing glove with a custom 4 x 4 fingertip-sized pneumatic tactile array. By utilizing a low-latency communication protocol, we demonstrate the synchronized transmission of audio, video, and high spatial resolution tactile data, enabling users to perceive object stiffness and geometry remotely.
