📚 My Research

I’m a PhD candidate at Texas A&M University. My current research focuses on developing remote haptic communication frameworks to render tactile sensations between nurse and doctor in Virtual/Mixed Reality.

I conduct various of psychophysical human studies to comprehensively investigate the role of human tactile perception in the multimodal interaction system.

Haptic Acuity during Shared Grasp Experiences in Virtual Reality

In this study, we proposed a novel system that records and plays back VR experiences using the WEART TouchDIVER haptic glove, which provides localized 1 DOF force, vibration, and temperature feedback to each fingertip.

A Hybrid Soft Haptic Display for Rendering Lump Stiffness in Remote Palpation

This paper presented a novel hybrid haptic display that significantly improves performance in a remote palpation task by combining large-scale force feedback with fine-grained contact area cues.

Investigating Passive Presentation Paradigms to Approximate Active Haptic Palpation

We explored how passive users can perceive active palpation tasks via synchronized visual/haptic feedback from a robotic platform. While passive conditions showed slight decreases in perceptual acuity, many participants reported strong ownership/kinesthetic illusions, suggesting potential for immersive "passive immersion" in hands-on experiences.
